I love to read.
Before I started BearHugs, I was quite unwell and there was a long while when looking at a page of a book left me feeling dizzy. The words seemed to blur together or jump across the page making it near impossible for me to take them in. I didn't have the brain power to concentrate and would come away from a book with a nasty headache.
Determined to not give it up entirely, I decided to revert to children's books with large print. I'd start by trying one page at a time. Then, as I got a little better a few pages at a time. Very slowly over the course of a couple of years, I have been able to build my reading back up to the point where I can consume whole (adult!) books again and I could not love it more.
There are a lot of books that have helped to inspire BearHugs in one way or another so I thought it might be nice to share them and what was so special about them to me.
I'm a big believer in passing books on once I've read them, so if you'd like to read a book I've mentioned please feel free to drop me a quick email and I'll pop my copy in the post to you :)
