Introducing our Primary School Kindness Activity Pack!

At BearHugs, we believe that no act of kindness (no matter how small!) is ever wasted, and we could think of no better way to get this across to people by teaching children at a young age about the importance of being kind. We feel that kindness can get a little lost in the lead up to Christmas with all the (lovely!) festivities, therefore we wanted to put together Kindness Enrichment resources for schools for this period of year and to be aimed at Key Stage One (5-7 year olds).

Hence the creation of our Kindness Activity Pack! Our resources have been put together by a qualified Primary School Teacher, with experience teaching in Key Stage One, who is passionate about nurturing children’s understanding of being kind to others, as well as themselves and to their environment. This will be reflected throughout the Kindness Activity Pack, in addition to providing yourself and your class with enjoyable activities!

Our underlying theme for the resources is ‘Remember to be kind in December’ :)

The Kindness Activity Pack aims to support your current PSHE planning and assessment, as well as providing further opportunity to enhance children’s understanding in the subject area and beyond.

The resources have been devised with key learning opportunities in mind, based upon objectives from the PSHE Association and the building blocks behind the new statutory guidance for Relationships Education (and mental well-being). These learning opportunities aim to support children in their continued development in the areas of moral, social and emotional well-being, more specifically to develop:

  • Empathy and Compassion

  • Mindfulness

  • Self-awareness

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Gratitude

  • Conscientiousness

  • Trustworthiness

We think this is so important to focus on from a young age to develop such positive personal attributes (PSHE Association), to prepare children for the society of the future and to support their mental health.

The main elements of the Kindness Activity Pack include:

FREE DOWNLOADS (within 2 files)

  • A ‘Kindness Advent Calendar’; including 24 small activities (ranging on average from 10-15 mins) that promote kindness. These vary from discussion to practical tasks.

  • An Interactive Powerpoint; including introductory videos, an interactive version of the advent calendar, with teacher guidance (key questions and words).

  • A guidance folder for teachers, including direction to support children with Additional Educational Needs (AEN/SEN) and/or English as an Additional Language (EAL), as well as ways to extend children’s understanding further.

  • A letter to be sent home to parents/carers with a copy of the calendar.

We are ALSO so excited to offer bonus materials.

Our bonus materials aim to support and enhance the daily kindness activities for your class and school, as well as being time-saving.

A class pack includes:

1 x A3 Glossy Poster of The Kindness Advent Calendar - This could be displayed in your classroom, or perhaps in the corridor or dinner hall for other children and staff members to see; to encourage discussion surrounding the activities and kindness.

1 x Bill Bear Teddy - we may be a little biased, but our fluffy Bill Bear is the absolute cutest, and is a lovely incentive to help children with one of the daily advent activities to spot others being kind who then get to ‘look after’ him. You may then like to continue this practice throughout the whole month or even year!

35 x ‘Be Kind’ stickers - One of the daily advent activities involves the children wearing a sticker to remind others to be kind. These ready-made stickers are eye-catching and deliver a clear message for other children and adults to see, once again prompting interaction and discussion around being kind.

Lastly, a teacher knows their class best, therefore, although a main structure/timetable will be provided, the activity pack is designed to be a flexible approach to fit around your class and timetable.

We are very proud to have received some lovely feedback about our Kindness Activity Pack from Infant and Primary Schools across the UK, which also offer some fantastic ideas about implementing the activities and how it can benefit your class.

If you have any questions surrounding our Kindness Activity Pack; whether this be regarding our free downloads or bonus physical materials, do pop us an email to and we will be more than happy to help!

And most of all… enjoy!
