Kindness Advent Day 18: Share a fundraising page
Smile for ME and Carers Week
Day 18 of the BearHugs Kindness Advent Calendar is 'Sponsor someone or share a fundraising page'.
Today we are sharing the fundraising page for an important friend of BearHugs, Sophia.
Sophia is the very special person who sent Faye the beautiful, thoughtful care package that inspired everything we do today. Sophia is endlessly kind and truly one of life's loveliest people.
Inspired by: Poppy and Zoe
The 11th - 17th June this year was carers’ week; a week in which all the amazing people caring for those with extra support needs can receive thanks and recognition for the fantastic help they provide. Smile for ME had the brilliant idea of using carers’ week as an opportunity to let ME sufferers say a big ‘thank you’ to their carers by nominating them to receive a treat. We were so honoured when Smile for ME chose to build a very special range of BearHugs for the occasion!
2017 Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar
When BearHugs’ Lyndsey visited the Costa near Hillsborough Park in Sheffield, something caught her eye.
Two young girls, Poppy and Zoe, realising that they had toys that others might enjoy, had set up a display full of wonderful toys for other children to take away.
Random Acts of Kindness Day Nineteen: Leave a friendly note in a public place

Random Acts of Kindness Day Eleven: Support a small independent business
Day 18 of the BearHugs Random Acts of Kindness Calendar was donate to or share a fundraising page. I missed this yesterday so today I'm sharing a fundraising campaign very close to my heart. My incredible friend Sophia has had to travel to America for much needed Lyme Disease treatment. She is very very poorly at the moment and it breaks my heart knowing the pain she is in. If you have a minute, pop across to her gofundme page (link below), read about what an amazing person she is & how Lyme has affected her and help if you're able. The Sophia Box is also still available, 100% of the profits going towards Sophia's treatment.
Random Acts of Kindness Day Nine: Donate Unwanted Clothes
Day 11 of the BearHugs Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar: Support a small independent business. Whether it's making a purchase or spreading the word you can make all the difference to a small business!
Random Acts of Kindness Day Eight: Thank someone who has gone out of their way for you
Hugo the BearHugs bear and I have been clearing out our wardrobe for day 9 of the BearHugs Random Act of Kindness Advent Calendar. I'll be dropping off my unwanted clothes at a local charity shop in the morning. If you're not able to get to a charity shop Clothes Aid and Traid will collect from your home for free. Alternatively you could donate an emergency clothing, food and toiletries parcel at refuge.org.uk for £10🐻💙
Random Acts of Kindness Day Seven: Give someone a gift however small, just because
Day 8 of the BearHugs Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar: Thank someone who has gone out of their way for you. I've spent this evening writing some soppy cards to people who have been exceptionally lovely 🐻💙 Thank you also to everyone who has shared their #bearhugsraok updates with me. I can't tell you how happy it has made me!
Random Acts of Kindness Day Six: Be Kind To Yourself
Yesterday, day 7, of the BearHugs Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar was about giving someone a gift however small just because. I handed out some of these mini tea mug and biscuit boxes! If you're poorly and wanted to join in but weren't up to giving a gift yourself, drop me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the name and address of the person you'd like to treat and I'll send a little box like this on your behalf free of charge :) I've got 10 ready to go! (UK only I'm afraid!)
Random Acts of Kindness Day Five: Donate to a Food Bank
Day 6 of the BearHugs Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar: Be kind to yourself. I hope everyone taking part has done something lovely today that makes them happy. This one couldn't have come at a better time for me! After a mad few weeks I'm feeling pretty under the weather so tonight I'm imposing a screen ban and treating myself to an evening with my book, tea, chocolate and ALL the blankets 🐻💙
Random Acts of Kindness Day Three: Spread the word about a small charity doing great work
Day five of the BearHugs Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar is about donating to a food bank.
When doing my research for today's act of kindness I was shocked to read that thirteen million people live below the poverty line in the UK. Millions of people go hungry every day for a range of reasons, from benefit delays to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
The Trussell Trust is a charity that runs one of the largest food bank networks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. The Trussell Trust also recognises that hunger is about More Than Food, which is why they’re also working with food banks to provide a range of new services like money advice and Fuel Banks, helping people to break the cycle of poverty.
Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar | #bearhugsRAOK
Day three of the BearHugs Random Acts of Kindness Advent Calendar is about drawing attention to lovely small charities doing great work. So here's a little more information about three of my favourites all of which are run by incredible young women living with chronic illness. I feel super proud to call them my friends.
BearHugs believes that small acts of kindness have the potential to make a really big difference which is why we'll be doing lovely little things every day in the run up to Christmas.
