A Proud Milestone for BearHugs
I’m really happy to share that BearHugs has been named a finalist in the University of Sheffield’s 2016 Startup Showcase.
When you’re building something day by day, it’s easy to stay focused on what’s next. So taking a moment to pause and reflect on how far things have come feels important.
BearHugs began with a simple idea. It was about helping people stay connected and send care when they couldn’t be there in person. To now be recognised as part of this showcase feels really encouraging.
The event
On 9th September, BearHugs will be taking part in the event at Firth Hall. I’ll have a stall of hug in a box gifts there, sharing what BearHugs is all about and chatting to visitors throughout the event.
There will also be a five-minute pitch. I’ll be speaking in front of a panel of judges, along with an audience of fellow entrepreneurs and members of the Sheffield business community.
It’s a mix of exciting and a little bit nerve-wracking, but in the best way.
The winner of the showcase will receive a £5,000 prize from Santander to help grow their business. It’s an amazing opportunity, and being part of it already feels like a big step forward.
Grateful for the Opportunity
Events like this are about more than just the outcome. They’re a chance to meet people, share ideas and feel part of a wider community of people building something of their own.
Starting a business can feel quite solitary at times. So being surrounded by others who are doing the same, each in their own way, is really motivating.
I’m really excited to be part of the day and to represent BearHugs. I’ll be sure to share how it all goes afterwards.
For now, I’m feeling grateful, a little bit nervous, and very ready to give it my best!
